The development of science and technology has its merits as well as demerits. The human civilization has come a long way and today we have more amenities than we had previously. However, we do tend to forget that scientific and technological advancement takes place at nature’s expense sometimes. Economic evolution of a country is synonymous with urbanization, and urbanization goes in tandem with the alteration of the rural space. This means large-scale felling of trees, the tapping or manipulation of natural resources and destruction of the natural flora and fauna of a wide domain. Such manifestations are detrimental to the ecological balance that should be maintained in order to retain a sound environment.
Industrial revolution plays a big role when it comes to the progression of the basic standard of living, but its onslaught has also posed a major threat to the well-being of Mother Nature. Pollution, global warming, ozone layer depletion are some of the adverse effects that all of us are aware of. If we do not do something about it now, the future could turn bleak.
Therefore, we need to take baby steps from today onwards, adopt some measures and make amends for the wrongs we have done to nature. For your benefit, we bring you some ways in which you can be more eco-friendly on a daily basis.
1. Did You Think Of Digitization As A Medium For Saving Paper?
Wood pulp is used to make paper and these wood pulps come from trees. Did you know that one tree could make approximately 8000 papers? So imagine the number of trees that are felled on an annual basis to create papers! We cannot forego the use of papers, because they are responsible for documenting the activities of entire generations. However, what we can do is reduce the number of papers we use every day. Go for digital calendars and post-it notes instead of papers. Moreover, if you can make use of some documents without printing them out, try to do so. The bottom line is going digital in places where you can manage without paper.
2. Walk, Cycle Or Take Public Transports Instead Of Driving
This is a measure to save fuel, reduce pollution and stay in shape, all in one. The cycle revolution has been going on in many countries since a long time. It is high time you start using this eco-friendly vehicle too, especially if you are making a short trip. Walking is another great way to reduce pollution as well as body weight. If you are going to your workplace, or you are taking a long-distance route, take a public transport instead of driving a car. This way you save not only fuel but your money too.
3. Use As Much Water As Needed
We consider water as life and paradoxically take it for granted. But the biggest issue is that the underground water table (which is the most purified form of water) is depleting day by day and if we do not start saving water from today, the coming generation would be at a loss. There are many ways in which you can save water. For example, turn off the tap when you are brushing, resist yourself from taking long, luxurious showers. If you are doing laundry use the washing machine only when you have a considerable load to take care of. Check the faucets before leaving your home and if you find any dripping faucets, make sure to get them fixed.
4. Plant Trees
There is no alternative to this measure. If we wish to be saved it is the flora that is our last hope. So plant more trees in and around your home. Adorn your home with pretty flower pots. You can also be a part of a group that runs campaigns pertaining to the conservation of environment and biodiversity at large.
Doing these things, however small they may seem without the light of their impact shining brightly on them, will improve the quality of life for not just you but also your loved ones. Another thing that might make the lives of your dear ones better is life insurance. It will take care of your family when you are no more there to be the overseer. Both the environment and finances are needed to be taken care of. So give due diligence to every aspect of your life and make way for satisfaction.
